Coblins Cove
A week ago I was on a weeks leave, wanted to spend some time blogging and of course old Murphy was at it again, first a week away with no 3G so couldn't blog and then a week without a working keyboard, you just have to love technology....... working Christmas without anytime off, was really hectic, the whole time I felt as though I was waiting for something ...... oh yes, waiting to go on holiday...... so enough is enough and I have taken a week off work to relax and unwind before I go into my financial year end, you just have to love accounts, and year end.
Saturday afternoon I hit the road and off I went to my sisters game farm for a few days......... heaven........ I have been wanting to go to a restaurant called Goblins Cove for years so, as a treat my sister booked for us to go for supper. When she phoned to ask if they were open, which they were, she asked if she needed to book......... absolutely we get very busy was the answer......
Well we arrived at 6.30pm as arranged........ my goodness the car park was so full, we couldn't find anywhere to park..... so full of trees, air and open spaces not a car in sight..... it was just beginning to go dark, as we walked towards the entrance, three guys were standing off to the side...... in the shadows of the tall trees, with vines hanging from them tall trees, very tall trees........
as we walked in, one of the guys got up as though he was going to come and greet us, but not a soul in sight....... in front of us was a rickity staircase with old tree branches tied together which served as a banister, there were little alcoves off to the left and the right all with tables and chairs still not a soul in sight, we climbed higher and higher up the stairs...... and decided that was where we were going to sit.......... I mean the place was so busy there was just no other place, and if they weren't going to tell us where to sit, we would find our own place. We sat for a while wondering if they would ever find us there, or whether in months to come they would find our bones, sitting on the chairs waiting for service........... A waiter called Angel came , popped up out of no where, scaring us half to death.................. the whole evening we could hear voices from all over the restaurant... Angel..... angel...... angel..... could she be in all these places at the same time, she lit a candle on the table, everywhere was grass hanging from the roof, and pictures and statues of goblins with big ears and long faces learing down at us.........
Then the "manager" arrived...... out of the darkness.............. he walked with a marked limp, and in a strange way and looked just like a Goblin... I was convinced that he had transformed from one of the statues, and as evening came......... as the restaurant was so "full" ............ we were his "victims" that night............. He was very sweet and of the 6 other people who filled up the reastaurant we were his favourites......
My sister needed the ladies and as she left I asked her if she wanted some bread crumbs so that she would be able to find her way back to the table..... just at that time some other guests arrived too scared to sit by themselves, they sat in the alcove next to ours....... they were killing themselves laughing at my sister........... When I went to the loo later........... which was a mission, I might add.... for a horrible moment I thought that I was locked in...... and I could well be Goblins breakfast the next morning........... the door opened the wrong way round.
As evening fell there was weird noises we convinced ourselves it was birds.......... i have never heard birds like that before............ ever...............
The first course arrived, salmon............. and the cats started appearing out of no where........ black cats....... sitting staring at us from the darkness
The food however was Chicken Roulade............ which we had to google to see exactly what it was........... was delicious.............. the desert Kiwi cheese cake.......... was so good it was almost to good to be true.............. maybe it was............
The evening was such fun........ good food and lots and lots of laughter............. with just a little bit of FEAR added for good measure..........
