Jet Setter

I  cannot  believe  that  almost  two years  have  passed  without   blogging,  and  how  things  have  changed  in the  blogging  world,  and in   my world. My  computer  genius  was  here  tonight  to  upgrade everything   as  I  could not  get  on to  anyones blog  including  my own,  it  was  by  chance  a  few  weeks  ago  I   managed  somehow  to  post  a  blog,  and  even  left  a  message  on my  old  friend  "Yaya"  from  Whipering  Pines  and  then ..............  nothing  again.

My  world  in 24  months  has  been  swinging  back  and  forth  like  a  pendulum,  but  one  thing  remains  constant.........  my  love  for  my Heavenly  Father  and  my ability  to  laugh,  especially  at  myself.

At  the  beginning  of  this  year   I  was  given  a  promotion,  I  am  now  National  Credit  Manager  of  a  Billion Rand  debtors  book,  3500   customers  and  17 credit  controllers................. and  I  became  a  jet  setter  with  banches  all  over  the  country I  fly  here  there  and  every where...........  now  it  is  fun  and  I  enjoy   the  people  at the  airports,  it  is  amazing  how  people  you  have  only sat  next  to for five  minutes  will  give  you  there  life  story.

My  first  trip  however  was  another  story.

I  flew  from  Johannesburg  to  Cape  Town  and  met  everyone,  instead  of  staying  over  in Cape  Town  my  boss  had  booked  me  on a  flight  to Durban  arriving  there  at  8.30 in the  evening,  I  then  had  to   hire  a  car  and  find  the  hotel  which  I  had  never  been  to  before  in the  dark.  My  daughter  failed  to tell  me  her Garmin  had  not  been  updated  for  6 years..........  well  I  end   up  at  the  Durban  main  beach  not  a  place  to be  after  dark............  after  getting  instructions  from  the  hotel  i  head  back  to  my destination,  it  was  pouring  with  rain........  and  I just  kept  ending  up at the  wrong  place........  all  the  road  had  changed  names,  the  new  South  Africa.....  at 10 o'clock   it  was  now  pouring  with  rain  i  ended  up  at  a  garage.....  scared,  tired,  hungry,  in my short  skirt  and  high  heel  shoes,  crying  my  eyes  out,  and  I  asked  two  guys  to  please  help  me.............  I  would  love  to  know  how  they  tell  this  story,  because    with  one  guy  in a  car behind  and  one  guy  in the  car  in front   they  escourted  me  to  my hotel........  all  of  6  minute  down  the  road.....
The  hotel  restaurants  were  now  closed,   I  had  been  booked  into  a self  catering  room,    so  had  no tea  or  coffee,  so  just  went  to  bed..........  the  sea  view  the  next  morning  was  worth  every  tear..............  stunning

I  always  wondered  what  would  happen  if  a  "weight  challenged"  person  was  sitting  next  to  me  on the  airoplane  well  it  happened,  and  now  I  know,    the  gentleman  was  oozing  over  onto  my seat,  his  folded  arms    came  half  way  across  my chest...........   he  had  never  flown  before  and  was  in the  middle  seat  so  kept  standing  up  to  look  out  of  the  window,  and  all  I  will say  on this  subject  that  it  was  not  cute  like  this..................  ughhhhh

  1. Congrats on the promotion! It sounds pretty exciting. I'm not a big fan of flying so I don't think I'd do very well at that job! I hate to get lost and my gps fails me many times! Jack and I had a similar experience with trying to find our hotel in New York a few years ago. Darkness, rain, late night, and being tired about did us in! Like you, all's well that ends well! Have a good week!

  2. Hi Karen, WELCOME BACK, so nice seeing you are posting again. I was really pleased about reading your comment on my blog this morning.

Wow, what a scary time of getting lost in a strange city that must have been for you on a dark rainy night. You are a pretty brave lady.

    Congratulations on your promotion.
I bet your new baby boy is growing quite big by now. I have a great grandson who just turned one year old at the end of September.

    Stay safe,
    Hugs,
    JB

I'm looking forward to reading your blog posts.
    Welcome back.
