Spring has Sprung

After  a  long grey  winter,  with  little  rain,  and  one "gift"  of  black  frost  my  garden  was  looking  very  sorry  for  itself  and  crying  out  for  some  love  and  attention.  Many  of  the  new  plants  I  had  put  in last  summer  have   not  recovered  and  succummed  to  the  drab,  cold  dry  winter  season.   And  so  we  start  again,  I  would  love  to  know  how  much  money  I  have  spent  over  the  years  on plants  that  have  not  made  it  through  the  winter,  I am  sure  I  would  be  much  richer  than  I  am  now,  but  I  suppose  that  the  fun,  and  peace  of  gardening  is  in the  planting  of  new  things  and  watching  them  grow.

Last  year  was  the  ornament  and  hanging  basket  year,    I  have  lots  of  trees  so  my  garden  seems  to  be  "green"  with little  or  no  colour,  not  much  grows  under  the  trees,  so  I  went  for  some  colorful hanging  baskets  and  "cool fun"  stuff  for  the  walls,  and  as  decorations...........  I  think  I   just  like  different,  odd,   but  they  are  most  certainly   conversational  additions  to  my garden.

What I  need  now  is  rain  everything  is  dry  and  dusty  and sad.  Please  let  it  rain

An  old  spade  converted  to  a plant  holder

My  beloved  verandah,   i love  to drink  my tea  here  in the  mornings,  watch the  sun  rise,  and  contemplate  life,  while  being  entertained  my  "bubbles  the  Indian  Minor  we  raised  from  a  tiny  pink  featherless  blob  he  had  been  blown  out  of his  nest,  and  now  had  a  vocabulary  of about  30  words...........  so  cute.

My  dog...  of  the  three  I  have  I  wish  they  were  all  as  well  behaved  as  this  one  the  old  metal  stirrup  I  dug  resting  on the  bird  bath  I  dug  ot  of the  garden,  one  of  the  advantages  of  having  a  100  year  old  house  you  never  know  what  you  will  find.

An  old  step  ladder  my sister  was  throwing  away,  a good  sanding  a  coat  of  paint,  looks  stuning.

Love  my  lime  green  pots  gives  such  colour  to my garden

  1. It's ironic that our Fall has just bugun and things are starting to die down and in your garden, Spring has sprung. I love what you did with the little step ladder, it looks beautiful and fresh Your faithful garden dog looks very handsom and soon will be surrounded with beautiful greenery and flowers.

I'm looking forward to reading more of your adventures.
    Stay safe,
    Hugs,
    JB
