What a hectic few weeks this has been, from my birthday for the past 3 weeks, it is as though I have not had a moment to myself, before I started my annual holidays we had to get through a week of holiday club, which was one of the most difficult we have had, normally because it is our summer we have jumping castles and slip and slides to keep the children but this time it rained and it rained, and it rained, in fact by Thursday two of the roads into our town were closed because the rivers had burst their banks so there was the long journey around the town to get anywhere, normally we are called a 5 minute town, because that is the distance to everything or everyone here, but we became a 30 minute town, as people battled to find alternative routes. Then I had to finish all my work so that I could go on leave, then it was finishing the final things for Christmas, then cooking for Christmas, which was an amazing day with 10 people for lunch, the food was great, the atmosphere was festive, the company was amazing, the only thing against it was that it was HOT would have killed for the snow that everyone else around the world had....... then on the 26th we were off to Cape Town.
Because we are doing some traveling this time, I decided to drive and not fly, the first day we drove 1000km which took us 9 hours, Kayla and I shared the driving, which was great, but with Gods grace and lots of prayer we made it all the way without any problems, but I was finished, the Karoo is very boring endless roads that look like they are never ending, it is very dry at the moment the rivers are empty the dams are empty and everything looks like it is dead or dying, it is one of the worst drives I have had, we slept over in a little place called Beaufort West, where people driving through are asked to bring 10 litres of water, because there just is not any water, so showering on restrictions was interesting.......... to say the least, but the next town was 250km away and I really could just not go any further I was all driven out.
Then the 27th up early and the final 5 hours to Cape Town, after the deadness of the Karoo you go over the Hex River mountains and things are transformed, the beauty of this valley is beyond words, with the green of the vineyards and the old Cape Dutch houses it is like being transported back in time.
We are staying in a place called Betty's Bay, 12 of us hired a luxury house together, which is amazing, and is great company for Kayla and I, and means we are not doing things alone, she has friends and so do I to enjoy all the sights and adventure with.
After a cup of tea and settling in, off to the penguin reserve, 1000's of penguins, and absolutely amazing sight, and I must be honest a very, very VERY smelly one.
Up early on the 28th and off to Cape Point, where the Indian and Atlantic ocean meet, the wind was "pumping" at 85km an hour and we had to walk up the mountain, but the view and the experience from the top was worth every step.
Along the way we went through amazing towns, like Muizenburg, Kalk Bay,
this is my kind of town, cute little coffee shops, antique shops and book shops, old buildings and secret walk ways, and of course the sea, my beloved sea, there is just something so quiet and peaceful about the sea, it just has the power to make me rethink where I am going, and where I want to be, then the navel base at Simons Town,
a stunning place, but a work of warning never have the scones at Berthe's they are lethal weapons that can be used as missiles to kill people, or to tie around there feet so the sink to the bottom of the ocean Mafia style.
Then on to Hout Bay for the best fish and chips in the whole world, straight out of the ocean and on to your plate, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
As one of the boys said as his facebook comment, Cape Town in 12 hours, and he was so right, cannot wait for what we will be up to in the next few days.. ........... We have booked for table mountain but the wind has been two strong so the cable car has not been running, but we still have a week left so here is hoping..................
A journey into changing who you are, so you can find true peace with your life

Merry Christmas
To all my amazing blogger friends, I wish for you a joyful, peaceful, happy, warm, loving, family filled Christmas, combined with all the blessing that our Holy Father promises us through the birth of His Son. May you be blessed out of your Christmas stockings, this Christmas day.
I leave you with my two favourite bible verses
Psalm 31:24 "Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord"
Jeremiah 29:11 " I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future"
Lots of Love

Contemplation Corner
Doubt is a pain too lonely to know that faith is his twin brother
(Kahlil Gibran)
I love sitting around a table and chatting, it is so warm and friendly, there is no chance that people will keep one ear on the conversation and one eye on whatever is going on around them. There is eye to eye contact, there is fellowship, you can just "feel the love". I would rather sit and read at a table than on the sofa, for me it is just more comfortable.
A few years ago my ex husband ( it feels soooooooooooooooo good to be able to say that) built a little corner at the bottom of the garden, for me....... and then he filled it with masks he KNEW that i do not like masks but there they were hanging on the walls a constant reminder of what was wrong, of the evil that was slowly evading our marraige, and our lives, just like the wooden voodoo idol he had in our bedroom that at every opportunity I would put in the drawer, and the next day there it was again, mocking me.........
A few weekends ago, I was in mission mode.............. again................. and decided that my little corner had been dark and angry for long enough, so I removed the masks, I prayed over the corner, and then I had a brain wave, I decided to paint the walls a bright colour to warm it up, when my sister was here to visit we decided on green, and so a couple of weeks ago I bought the paint............. I love to paint......... and this is the result................
I am having a small sign made and calling my new solitude corner "Contemplation Corner"
over the past days I have spent quite a lot of time here thinking............... just being quiet and listening to the birds, listening to the silence, and being quite far from the house, there is no disturbances, a place where I can talk and listen to My Father............
I am so seldom alone, that it is so special and so important for me to take time every now and again to be quiet, I feel that society is discouraging us from thinking, it keeps us busy filling our lives with "stuff" to do, I more and more hear children say they are bored, I was never bored as a child, we could entertain ourselves, in fact I am never bored now, because just sitting and contemplating is enough for me, I don't need games, books, people, computers to keep me busy, solitude and quiet and God is what keeps me going.............
I think I will tell my friends about it, so that when they need to get away for a few hours, and have no where to go........... they can come to "Contemplation Corner"

Cape Town Day Three
This has been a hectic week, but I refused to do another blog on Cape Town until I had caught up with all my friends it is amazing how much you can miss in just a few days.
Our last day in Cape Town was by far the best day, up early as usual, bags packed and down for breakfast again by 7.30, another "quiet" breakfast, bills paid, car loaded an off we go to visit a wine farm, who can go to the Cape with out going to taste some wine.
We couldn't go to far and since I had been there before 25 years ago, and my son - in - law was keen off we went to Fairview Wine Estates, now I am really not a wine drinker so we were given the instructions on how you should taste wine. You tilt the glass slightly down preferably on a white, or light background and have a look at the colour, you swirl the glass to release the fragrances and you take a deep breath........ and smell the wine and then only can you taste. If the wine "bites: you in the throat it was fermented in a cask, and if in the cheeks then it was fermented in a stainless steel drum, I thought that was quite cool information. When you have someone talking you through it and telling you what you are going to smell, you can smell the green peppers, the peach, the berries. You each get to taste 6 wines the saving grace was they are also a goat cheese farm, so you also get to sample the cheeses in between, the most amazing cheeses I have tasted, their Blue Goats Cheese was the best ever.
I don't know what it is about me, but i just have expensive tastes, if there is 4 dresses on a rack and I choose the one I like it would be the most expensive without fail, I do it every time. And the same with the wines, you get a list of wines you can choose from, and my daughters and I insisted they tasted like rotten grapes.......... much to everyone's horror and amusement so he brought out the real wines......... and there was two that were really good........ I mean really good.......... and they were double the price of any of the other wines, only 900 bottles are made each year of these particular wines.......... I had quite a bit of hand luggage by the time we reached the airport........
And then we went off to Butterfly World, I don't think I have ever had a more moving experience, you go into a massive greenhouse, and you are surrounded by butterflies of every colour, every size, and every shape you can image, it was almost like being Alice in Wonderland in 3D it was so sureal you just don't want to leave, there is a note on the door as you leave, "Please check your nose, hose and hair for hitchhikers..........." how cool is that..................
Then we had a really "happy" lunch, and off to the airport, we arrived with 3 minutes to spare, but we made it and for the first time in a long time, I wasn't ready to go home, I would have done anything to stay a little longer. Best part is Kayla and I are going again at the end of December I just can't wait............

Cape Town Day Two
I think that I am in love, Cape Town is an amazing place, I just love the feel of it, everyone is so friendly and there is so much to do. Saturday morning, after I had blogged, we had breakfast we invited a friend to join us.......... the owner of the place said, he had never had such a noisy breakfast before, but all his other guests loved it, a couple from Australia, and a newly married couple from Durban who spent all their time in their room................. soon became laughing accomplices, there is no better way to start the day.
Off to see the Castle of Good Hope in the heart of Cape Town, it is amazing to know that people have been walking around there for 350 years, the jails were awful, but the dining room.............. seats 120 people, it was beautiful I could just picture all the people sitting around it in there long, corset dresses, being waited on hand a foot by an army of servants........ probably slaves........ wonder if I can have my 60th birthday party there........... the old bakery and the wells right in the middle of the kitchens, wonder how many people fell in there, truly a time of many hardships, but also of community and togetherness.
There is a cannon fired every hour on the hour, as we arrived there and we were paying to go in the 10 o'clock cannon was fired, well i got such a fright I screamed and everyone was laughing at me, I was prepared for the 11 o'clock firing with fingers planted VERY firmly inside my ears.......... you have no idea how much noise that tiny cannon can make.
Then off to the Two Oceans Aquarium. I have been wanting to go through the tunnel for ages, and it was a little disappointing as it turned out to be half a tunnel, but Kayla and I spent a couple of hours wandering around along what felt like 50 000 other tourists, the place is really beautiful but VERY expensive........
And then off to the wedding our whole purpose for coming to Cape Town........
but that well ........... how could one describe it ............ for me the saddest part was that God was not invited to the wedding but I pray that he was there anyway. but THAT is a blog all by itself....... back to Tintagel Guest House for me, but the others hit the night clubs............ a warm bed and a hot cup of tea ........... mmmmmmmmm .... just what I needed......

Cape Town - Day One
I woke up this morning in a strange bed.............
the most beautiful bed in a place called Tintagel in the heart of Cape Town, it is nestled at the foot of table mountain, and this morning as i open the door and peer upwards the mountain is covered with its famous table cloth. The whole mountain is shrouded in a mist, like something out of a ghost story. The guest house where we are staying was built in 1890 one of the reasons that I chose it, it is like going back in time, as I write this I am sitting in a tiny court yard, which is protected by a covering of wisteria, beautiful purple flowers, in the court yard next to me i can hear the flow of water, from the old water feature which in now worn away by age, and green from the constant flow of water, but just as beautiful.
From outside the guest house looks very small, but as you enter the front doors you are greeted by the beauty and are taken back to a time when elegance, and refinement was the order of the day.
It is only 6 in the morning, and already the streets outside are bustling with cars, I am not sure whether they are going somewhere or coming from somewhere, but I feel that I should be hearing the sounds of horse hooves and carts, the road noise completely out of character to the surroundings in which I find myself.
We flew into Cape Town yesterday, after a somewhat bumpy and being annoying flight, we had the "pleasure" of 3 particularly irratating guys the whole trip, I am doomed to have flights that are challenged by either crying babies, drunk men, or whining children.
What a joy to be in Cape Town again, from the minute you arrive, you can feel the "slowness" of the place, everything is clean, no graffiti, no bill boards, no derelict buildings.......... thank you world cup............. after an "interesting" drive, using the Garmin here proved to be somewhat of a challenge as a lot of the roads are one ways and are so narrow, that you can hardly pass the cars parked on the side of the road, we ettled in, and off we went to the V & A Waterfront, as we sat and had a few drinks, sitting alongside the dock, with multi million rand liners parked next to you, you have an inkling of what it must be like to be a Jet Setter, and I think I really like it..............
Then off to find somewhere for supper, rule number one when we go away we don't go or do anything that we can do at home, so off we went in search of somewhere to eat. It is now 8 o'clock at night and the light has just faded, the wind has come up and being by the water, without jerseys has taken on a shivering dimension, so in doors it was. Inside the Waterfront, the Christmas decorations are up, and from the ceilings there is a waterfall of blue fairy lights, absolutely beautiful, for the first time a stirring that Christmas is just around the corner, hits me.
The Cape Fish Market, is where we decided on for supper, how can you be at the sea and not have fish....................... I had sushi for starters, just LOVE sushi, and then I had a mussel pot, with vegetables done in a garlic sauce................ world stay away from me today, as I am armed and dangerous and I am not afraid to BREATH on you.....................

Shoes
Well, I have decided that I am absolutely losing my mind, I am going slowly.......... crazy I am not sure whether it is age............... or senility........... or stress...............
I love shoes, I have loads of shoes, and I know I don't need them all but I just cannot walk past a beautiful pair of shoes.......... they call me.............. the higher the heel the better I like them, I hate walking on flat shoes, when I walk without shoes I walk on my tip toes, because walking flat footed is just so uncomfortable, so even though I am quite tall, I have never been uncomfortable putting on high heeled shoes, and looking at the world over the heads of my friends, it has its advantages, I see the empty tables first, I feel the rain falling first, and I can see what the hold up is at the front of a queue without having to go and ask............
Yesterday I got up and dressed for work, I love to wear skirts, and they just go great with the high heeled shoes, I put on the shoes, the same pair that I had worn to church on Sunday, and something did not feel quite right.......... remembering of course that without my glasses to see close up is an impossibility, I put on my glasses and checked out what the problem was with my shoes.................................
Well I was sure of one thing they were both black, but that was where the similarity ended, one shoe had a bow one didn't, one shoes was a heel and one was a wedge.............. one was even higher that the other.................
and then the realisation struck........... I had been to church, I had been to tea after church with all my friends, I had been to the shops for groceries................... and all of this with odd shoes............... how can I ever be let loose into the sane world again........ how can I ever go outside knowing that someone, somewhere, sometime, will be regaling the story over tea with friends, about this crazy lady, who had on odd shoes................
I once had an ex model come to one of our ladies teas " An Afternoon in Paris" and she gave us fashion hints... and one of them was that when you leave home you always need to have the WOW factor........ does this count..........
And like my "bestest" friend said, I should just tell everyone that the stange thing is........... I have another pair just like it at home..........................

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Mr. Sandman, bring me a dream
Make him the cutest that I've ever seen
Give him two lips like roses and clover
Then tell him that his lonesome nights are over
Make him the cutest that I've ever seen
Give him two lips like roses and clover
Then tell him that his lonesome nights are over
On Friday I was exhausted, the week was really busy, with an endless stream of queries which no matter what, always seem to end up on my desk, which I might add is beginning to look like a paper recycling plant, maybe I should change my name to Sherlock Holmes............
I took Kayla for supper and we chilled , which is the new word for sat and relaxed and has nothing to do with the weather because it was actually still 25 degrees at 9pm....... why we needed a new word I am still not quite sure, anyway we relaxed in front of the TV and I nodded off, TV has this effect on me, I am not sure whether it is the boring programmes or the fact that I am sitting still which is not something I do very often, I woke up at 10pm Kayla assured me she was not asleep and was just resting her eyes....... anyway off to bed we went................
And there I lay all comfortable in my bed ready, willing for Mister Sandman to come and send me off to dream heaven.................. and I waited................ and I waited.......... maybe he was busy with all the fireworks maybe there was a whole load of children who couldn't get to sleep I mean he has the whole world to look after............ so I decided to help by counting some sheep, flocks of sheep, I counted every sheep ever born or that ever will be born I counted them jumping over the gate, the moon I counted them on the hillside climbing up mountains.................
Right tea time, and back to bed with a book, I am reading it first, to make sure it is suitable for a young guy at work, who is a new Christian who is really under attack, and I have heard some weird, reviews about this book, I transgress again, I read for about half an hour and tried again................ the sandman was obviously still busy.............. I sprayed mood enhancer in Lilly, in Coffee and one my bestest friend gave me which sends her on her way to sleep land when she uses it .................. nothing............. my mind was like a racing car................ like an automatic machine gun that never runs out of bullets like those perpetual motion balances that swing backwards and forward for hours .......... how do you stop your mind from thinking, it is almost as though it has a mind of its own............ surely I am in charge, surely I can tell it, it is time to switch off the lights and go to bed, it has worked for my children for years...............
Right it is now 2 o'clock and time for tea my answer to all evils............. and I switched on the TV, took my pillow and blanket this time, because my neck is still a little stiff from earlier on in the evening, hoping that it it would send me to sleep, it worked before maybe it will work again, hoping it would bore me to tears and send me off to that unattainable land of sleep.............. well it was a really good movie which I watched until 3.30am called For the Love of Grace one of those girlly movies that men hate, which leaves you feeling all glowing and restoring your faith that somewhere maybe there will be someone who will one day love you that much........ now I am sure that on this feel good note I can get a couple of hours of sleep.................
NOW the cat decides that the mouse who shares our house has lived here long enough, NOW he decides that he has gone too far............ being "wary" please note not "scared" of mice........ I lay in my bed and heard the little thing squeak as our champion hunter chased him around the house ....................... it sounded more like a lion and a buffalo than a cat and a tiny little mouse............ eventually it was quiet and all I could thing about was Peroni eating this tiny little mouse and praying that he would not feel the need to bring it to me as a gift............................
I can feel my eyes closing .......................... sleep is on its way..................... and then the jangling of bells ............ I forgot to switch my alarm off it is 4.30am so I get up make some tea...............................................

Another quiet weekend.......
"Be Realistic expect nothing less than a miracle"
I wish I was one of those people who could "pace" my weekends, it seems like I try and cram as much as I can into weekends, they are really just so much fun, and I hate to waste a moment of them. This weekend was an amazing weekend, on Saturday we were up at the crack of dawn...... in fact I am beginning to think that I actually wake the dawn............ picked up Kira and my friend Cherry who is a dress designer and is going to make and design the dress for my bestest friend's soon to be daughter in laws wedding that we put together a month ago...... and we were off to buy the material.......... at a fabric shop aptly called the "Bargain Store", it really has amazing prices, the only downfall is that it is an hour away from my home town.
...... and so the fun began not only did Pamela have to choose her material and lace, and everything else needed for the amazing dress that Cherry designed, my two, Kira and Kayla decided they also wanted dresses made for a wedding that we are going to at the end of this month..... Cherry was going between all three girls, we kept losing her amongst the material rolls ....... I was going crazy just watching her.......... and the shop assistants were looking at us as though we had really lost the plot...... which I think at some point we did. I did look at patterns for the wedding at the end of the month, but decided that expecting Cherry, friend or not to make 3 dresses in three weeks was just a "little" bit on the impossible side, so I will have to buy myself a dress.........
Two hours later we were all finished, in more ways than one, and, as we don't have a MacDonald's in Heidelberg the town is too small, we went for breakfast at one there........ not sure why people eat this food, it really tastes like tomato sauce on cardboard.............. as far as I am concerned the old edible thing there is the Apple Pie.
Back to Heidelberg we drive, where we had a marathon two hours, taking measurements for the wedding dress and the bridesmaids dress, who is 3 and going to have the identical dress to her mom ...... then the sweet factory to buy some sweets for a childrens home ....... then the corner clothes shop that always has lots of bargins at really good prices ......... and we did find some......
At 1o'clock I had a meeting for the holiday club coming up in December , and off everyone else went to my favourite coffee shop ......... and then we chilled.......... Pamela's daughter, also a Kayla, had a blast, here she was trying on all my Kayla's sun glasses, talk about a face covered in "happy dirt"
Not sure if it is just in the name, but the two Kayla's never stop talking.......... and got on like a house on fire........ which we had the other day, when an extension cord caught fire, but we were saved by Levy our labrador who warned us of the fire, and for once I didn't panic..... which is a miracle in itself....... no damage done..... who would have believed Kayla if she had called for help after her last house on fire saga............ talk about crying wolf.
mmmmmmmmm here they are sitting on my beloved verandah....... this is the view that I enjoy, with my morning coffee........ and where I type most of my blogs.
And then a fantastic surprise my sister phoned me, and asked if they could come for lunch on Sunday, it is very hard for them to get away from their farm...... so this was only the second time she has visited. so with my marathon day on Saturday I had not had time to shop..... so guess what I was up at the crack of dawn to get to town to get some shopping like me Linda is an early riser, so they were expecting to be here at about 10am.
I think she knew the state of mind I was in, with all the "drama" that I am going through in the next few weeks.......... my nephew and his girlfriend came along , Kira and Jan ....... and as my sister says...... it was a very "Happy Day". Full of eating and laughing and catching up, it is quite a while since I have been able to get through to her to spend a weekend.
Me eating again.... thank goodness for gym I am still going 4 days a week, or I would be "Bessie Bunter" with my sister Linda and husband Allen.
My nephew, and his girlfriend Claire and Kayla
My son in law Jan, a really happy day, but I had to promise Kayla that I would make no arrangements for the next few weeks, as she is going to start writing exams and so needs to study....... so maybe I'll get more chance to blog... here's hoping...........

Happy Birthday
BIRTHDAY ONE - SURPIRSE
I have never been one that makes a big fuss about birthdays, probably because I am useless when it comes to birthdays I can remember that it is someone's birthday, on the day of their birthday I will phone, them talk to them, and still forget to wish them and this is including my sisters and my "bestest" friend........ but my friend Judy...... well she just loves birthdays........ and I mean she just LOVES BIRTHDAYS..... I mean just LOVES BIRTHDAYS.........
And so this year I decided to give her a surprise birthday party...... as I met friends I invited them to the party, a surprise party at the farm, Saturday at 4o'clock............... in the end I forgot how many people I had invited so when it came around to catering......... well I took my best guess and worked on that.
Kayla and I worked all Saturday, making salads, frying sausage and crumbed chicken , decorating platters of cold meats, and of course the only thing that I knew Judy would not resist........ could not resist the one thing that I knew would get her over..................Mararoni and Cheese or as she calls it "Mac and Cheese"............
On Saturday afternoon I phoned Judy and invited her to supper I know that she just loves macaroni and cheese so I told her that I had got "a little carried away" and made too much and would they come over and help me............... little did she know just how much more I had made .................. and I also know that hubby Wayne is not too keen on pasta.......and I know he is on a diet, so invited him for sausage and salad............... and the stage was set...............
The timing was slightly out, because I few other people arrived just before them so Wayne told me later as they were coming down the long drive way that leads to the farm, she saw the cars and wondered who else was coming over ................ SURPRISE ........... and she just loved it, she then understood why Wayne had told her to change before she came over.......... but she said no why should she because we are almost family.........
Altogether 30 people arrived, the evening was beautiful, the boys spent the afternoon playing some ball games.......... a boy thing I am sure...... the girls spent the time in "deep" conversation.................
and Judy well Judy just loves macaroni and cheese what can I say................ and then on Sunday her actual birthday we went through to Her Majesteas Salon for lunch......
BIRTHDAY TWO - ITS A STRIKE......
Then two weeks later it was Meghan's turn Judy's daughter and she wanted to go Ten Pin Bowling so on Saturday afternoon we loaded up 8 of her friends and some of the youth and off we went....... Do you have any idea at all how much noice 8 screaming 12 year old girls can make............ some of them had never played before and the fact that the ball was not a dangerous object flying in the reverse direction of the bowling alley was for these girls reason to celebrate...... and the way they celebrate is be SCREAMING there glee............... but it was great fun to watch them and great fun to hear there delight and when others started to complain about the noise the owner said ............ tough everyone is allowed to enjoy themselves............ The biggest scream of the day came when the birthday cake was revealed........................
and the picture on the cake was JAKE from the Twilight series....... talk about teenage hormones.......... oh no wait........ that was me screaming.. .......... Judy , Diane and I were arguing about what part of the cake we were going to eat........................
BIRTHDAY THREE 18 AT LAST
And then it was Matthew's turn Judy's and Wayne's son he was turning 18 and we have been planning this party for months, it went from a massive party in a hall, to a lunch in a restaurant, to what Matthew wanted a Sunday afternoon lunch at home with all the people that he loves around him........... smart boy that Matthew...................
The day started very overcast and a chilly and since it was an outside function we started to stress but by the time we needed to set up the sun was shining and it had warmed up a lot.......... What a fantastic afternoon full of friends, laughter, and a whole load of love .......................
What more can can we ask for.........................
